CAD/CAM Dentistry — Precise Digital Milling
CAD/CAM Dentistry — Treatment in a Single Visit
At SLclinic, we use innovative CAD/CAM technology to create high-quality dental restorations with exceptional precision and efficiency.
The concept of CAD/CAM technology was first introduced in dentistry in the early 1970s.
CAD stands for Computer-Aided Design, while CAM stands for Computer-Aided Manufacturing.
At SLclinic, CAD/CAM technology combines modern digital dentistry with speed and precision, allowing us to create customized dental restorations with excellent aesthetics.
CAD/CAM technology can also be used in implant dentistry to create surgical guides for more precise implant placement. In orthodontics, digital technology allows for efficient treatment planning with clear aligners.
The CAD/CAM Workflow
- Scanning — An intraoral scanner captures a detailed digital impression of the teeth, eliminating the need for uncomfortable traditional impression trays and making the process more comfortable for the patient. The scan is used to create a 3D digital model of the teeth and future restoration.
- Designing — Specialized dental software, including the BioJaw function, is used to create a virtual model of the planned restoration.
- Milling and Finishing — Automated milling technology allows for highly precise reproduction of fine details, including grooves and fissures, regardless of the selected material.
- Final Processing — A CEREC furnace is used for the final processing and firing of glass-ceramic restorations.
- Placement — The restoration is fitted and permanently cemented in the patient's mouth during the same visit.
At SLclinic, CAD/CAM technology can be used to create fixed dental restorations of varying complexity, including all-ceramic and metal restorations.
SLclinic offers a reliable, predictable, and convenient approach to dental treatment, with many restorations completed in a single visit.
